Microsuction Unit
Microsuction is widely recognised as one of the safest and most precise methods of ear wax removal. The equipment used includes a gentle medical suction device and a high-quality otoscope or loupe system to provide a clear view of the ear canal. This combination allows wax to be removed carefully without introducing water into the ear. The suction device gives me full control over pressure levels, ensuring the procedure is both effective and comfortable. Because it is a dry technique, microsuction is suitable for most people, including those who may not be able to have irrigation due to past ear conditions. The clarity provided by the visual equipment also helps identify any signs of irritation, infection, or blockages that may need further attention.
Ear Irrigation System
For some clients, irrigation can be the preferred method of wax removal. The irrigation system I use is designed to deliver a controlled, steady flow of warm water into the ear canal to gently flush out softened wax. This type of equipment ensures the pressure remains safe throughout, reducing the risk of discomfort. Before irrigation is carried out, I check that the ear drum is fully intact and that the ear is suitable for a water-based method. When used correctly, irrigation can be highly effective, especially for softer wax or build-up close to the outer part of the ear canal.
Diagnostic Otoscope
A full ear health check is an important part of every appointment. Using a high-definition otoscope, I can examine the ear canal and ear drum clearly to assess wax levels, detect inflammation, or identify issues that may require further medical advice. These tools allow for accurate assessment and help determine whether microsuction or irrigation is the safest option for you.
